Lemaire Chengdu Boutique Store in Taikoo Li is conceived as a quiet retreat within one of the city’s busiest commercial districts. Rather than extending the storefront to maximize the interior floor area, the design deliberately recesses the façade to form a landscaped threshold between the lively pedestrian street and the calm retail environment. This transitional zone softens the boundary between exterior and interior, creating a more gradual and immersive arrival experience.

The material language is rooted in Sichuan’s regional identity, with bamboo serving as the central design inspiration. The project incorporates both direct and abstract interpretations of the material. Bamboo flooring and woven curtains introduce its natural texture and warmth into the interior, while slender stone elements and tactile façade surfaces reinterpret the rhythm and layered quality of woven bamboo. Together, these elements create a restrained and refined atmosphere that reflects Lemaire’s understated aesthetic while maintaining a strong connection to the local context.
